IMPROVING HUMAN SAFETY IN CONFINED SPACES OF VESSELS
Astander is investigating to include in its offer, as an element of added value, an improvement in terms of Safety in different engineering processes, organization and human resources, production and subcontracting, being the shiprepairs and conversion projects a technical challenge, in which Safety should always be optimal.
Especially in confined spaces vertical configuration where the difficulty is even bigger due to the characteristics of the work area, maximum attention must be paidto the evacuation and the direction of the smoke and gases (the stack effect might mean an additional risk for the workers during the evacuation). All these additional difficulties require a complex management and safety control.
The aim is to provide to the product portfolio Astander a better guarantee of safety to achieve excellence
SHIP LIFECYCLE SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS-SHIPLYS
Astander is part of theEuropean Research Group “SHIPLYS”, formed by shipbuilders, Technology Centres and Ship Owners. Astander shipyard, specialized in repairs and conversion of vessels, has been considered as a key member among Shiplys members.
For Astander it is a main priority to minimize the cycle time and costs of design and production, in order to reliably produce better ship building concepts through virtual prototyping and to meet the increasing requirements for LCCA (Life Cycle Cost Analysis). Additionally, environmental and risk assessments are to be considered until the endoflife-cicle.
Therefore, Astander goal is to improve the resources and provide faster and efficient service in offers.
